The School Games is national programme which works to inspire young people to be physically active for life through positive experiences of daily activity and competition.
The School Games is delivered at a local level through a team of School Games Organisers. Avonbourne Academies is lucky enough to be the host school for School Games Organiser for Bournemouth, Sarah Dunsford. The Academies have hosted this role since 2010 demonstrating a commitment to physical activity and the community. Sarah has been in post as the School Games Organiser role since 2013.
The role focusses on developing relationships with all of the primary and secondary schools in the area to provide a range of physical activity event, competitions, and leadership programmes. The School Games aims to provide every child with a positive experience in an environment where the young person’s motivation, competence and confidence are at the centre of the competition.
By hosting the School Games Organiser for the area, it places Avonbourne Academies at the centre of the work that is being done to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of the young people in Bournemouth.
